North Lake Gets by Brookhaven, Setting up Wednesday Showdown with No. 10 Richland

FARMERS BRANCH, Texas – Dallas College North Lake men's basketball team beat Dallas College Brookhaven, 84-76, Saturday to regain sole possession of second place in the Dallas Athletic Conference.

The 13th-ranked Blazers (5-11, 3-1 DAC) will host No. 10 Dallas College Richland (10-6, 4-0) at 6 p.m. Wednesday to complete the first round of league action in a game to air on the Blazers Network. North Lake returns from the holiday break Jan. 4 for a road game at Grayson College before hosting Loyalty College Prep Jan. 8.

Anden Holmes scored a career-high 21 points on 8 of 10 shooting, and grabbed eight boards in Saturday's win. He was one of three Blazers starters in double figures. Autavius Hobbs had 16 points, seven rebounds and six assists, and Alex Gilmore scored 12.

North Lake built a 10-point halftime lead, and held on in the second half, while going 23 of 27 from the free throw line. The Blazers shot 53.1 percent from the floor – their best since shooting 53.3 percent in the season opener.

Brookhaven's Zach Gomez and Jeremy Roman each had 14 points. Pablo Agosto Vega had 11 points, and Emmanuel Tarpeh 10 in a balanced starting lineup offensive production. Brandon Webber had 15 points off the bench, going 7 of 12 from the field.

The Blazers outrebounded the Bears, 37-22.

Brookhaven shot 85.7 percent from the free throw line.

North Lake's J'Ylon Nobles had nine points off the bench, and David Clower finished with a career-high five assists.
