North Lake Uses 3-Ball to Coast by Mountain View

DALLAS – Dallas College North Lake's men's basketball team rolled to an 88-62 win at Dallas College Mountain View Saturday.

The No. 2 nationally-ranked Blazers held the Lions to 27 points in the first half in building a 16-point lead, and went on to win their 16th straight game comfortably.

North Lake (22-4, 8-0 Dallas Athletic Conference) shot 50 percent from the floor and 44.7 percent from three-point range, while attempting just six free throws in a game where both teams went to the line a combined nine times. The Blazers were 5-for-6 at the free throw line, and the Lions went 2-for-3.

North Lake sophomore swingman Jakob Zenon scored a career-high 36 points, and matched his personal best with 12 rebounds in a game he buried 10 of 17 three-pointers. His 10 triples also was a career high. He added three steals and three assists.

Blazers first-year guard Autavius Hobbs had 17 points on 5 of 11 shooting. He was 4-for-4 at the free throw line. Sophomore guard Bryson Smith finished with 11 points and seven assists. He was 5 of 8 from the field. Freshman forward Anden Holmes had 10 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals. Sophomore forward Ring Deng had seven points and seven boards. Sophomore guard Randy Woolf had seven assists and six rebounds, and freshman forward Daylen Webb scored five points.

North Lake shot 33 of 66 from the floor, including 17 of 38 from beyond the 3-point line. Mountain View (13-14, 0-8) hit 27 of 65 shots for 41.5 percent. The Lions were 6 of 19 from long range.

The 17 triples were a season high for the Blazers.

Doviyon Bradford had 18 points on 8 of 15 shooting, five rebounds, five assists, three steals and a block. Jordan Hicks scored 15 points, going 6 of 10 from the floor, including 3 of 5 from the 3-point arc. Evan Awodipe finished with eight points and eight boards. Louis Conner had seven assists.

North Lake plays at Dallas College Eastfield 6 p.m. Wednesday before hosting Dallas College Brookhaven in the final regular season game 1 p.m. Saturday.
