No. 3 North Lake Races Past Redlands

IRVING, Texas – Dallas College North Lake's third-ranked men's basketball team capped the calendar year with an 86-65 win over Redlands Community College Friday evening.

The Blazers, ranked third in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III poll, improved to 7-4 against NJCAA Division I or II opponents. North Lake (11-4) has won three straight against NJCAA Division I opponents.

Blazers sophomore guard Randy Woolf scored 15 points, going 9-for-11 from the free throw line. Sophomore forward Ring Deng had 14 points, sinking all eight free throws he attempted in the second half. Sophomore guard Bryson Smith had 13 points, including eight in the second half. Freshman forward Anden Holmes scored 12 points. Freshman forward Jermey Irwin had a season-high 10 points, giving the Blazers a lift in bench production.

Deazhon Perkins and KJ Jefferson each finished with 12 points for Redlands. Jefferson scored all 12 in the second half.

North Lake led by as many as 20 points in the first half, and took a 43-25 lead into halftime. But the Cougars whittled it down to 12 with around 6:00 remaining. The Blazers put the game away at the free throw line as Deng and Woolf each sank four free throws in the closing minutes.

The Blazers sank 25 of 32 free throws. The Cougars were 11 of 17 from the stripe.

North Lake will take a three-week break for the holidays before returning to the court Jan. 6 at Grayson College. The Blazers next home game is Jan. 10 against Arlington Baptist University Red.
