No. 4 North Lake Silences TWU Developmental on Community Day

IRVING, Texas – Dallas College North Lake's No. 4-ranked men's basketball team beat Texas Wesleyan University Developmental Team, 89-68, Tuesday afternoon in front of 713 mostly elementary school fans in the Blazer Dome on Community Day.

"What an exciting atmosphere," North Lake second-year head coach Josh Mills said. "We're really thankful for the Irving ISD schools and students who brought great energy today."

The Blazers (5-2) held Texas Wesleyan to 29 points in the second half after giving up 39 in the first in what became a 14-point game at the intermission.

Blazers guard Jakob Zenon scored 21 points, while making eight field goals, including three three-pointers. Forward Ring Deng finished with 19 points, while sinking 5 of 5 free throws. Randy Woolf had 15 points, and was 4-for-4 from the line. Anden Holmes had a season-high 13 points, including nine in the second half.

Deng threw down a dunk at the 15:37 mark in the first half to give the Blazers a 23-4 lead. But Texas Wesleyan outscored North Lake, 35-30, over the rest of the half. North Lake, which shot 15 of 17 from the free throw line, led 53-39 at the break.

TWU's Anthony Sierras scored 28 points. Keenan Osei had 19, and Roddrick Junior 11 for the Rams.

North Lake will compete in its last in-season tournament Friday and Saturday when the Blazers meet NJCAA Division I Clarendon College, which is receiving votes in the top junior college poll, and host South Plains College, the No. 2 team in the country, in the Texans Classic in Levelland, Texas.
