Jones Shines in Juco All-Star Game
LAS VEGAS -- Dallas College North Lake's Darion Jones finished with eight points, five rebounds and two assists at the National Junior College Athletic Association Men's Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Game Saturday at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
Jones, a 6-foot-3 sophomore guard from Austin, Texas, competed for the South All-Stars, along with Dallas College Richland forward Ed Trahan. In a game that featured players who are moving on to play at Power Five NCAA Division I schools, the South All-Stars beat the North, 103-100.
Jones' performance attracted the attention of four-year schools.
He was named an NJCAA Division III Second Team All-American this season after averaging 14 points, 6.9 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.7 steals per game as North Lake went 25-8 overall, 10-0 in the Dallas Athletic Conference, advancing to the national tournament.
