North Lake Completes Perfect League Record, Hosts District Tournament

Dallas College North Lake men's basketball team beat Dallas College Eastfield, 89-62, on the road Saturday in the final regular season game of the year.

The No. 2-ranked Blazers went unbeaten in Dallas Athletic Conference play this year, securing the No. 1 seed in this week's National Junior College Athletic Association Division III South Central District Tournament. North Lake (23-6, 10-0 DAC) awaits the winner of Tuesday's Dallas College Brookhaven-Dallas College Mountain View quarterfinal game at Eastfield.

The Blazers will host the semifinals and championship game 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Thursday and 2 p.m. Saturday. North Lake will also host the South Central women's championship game between Dallas College Cedar Valley and Dallas College Mountain View 5 p.m. Saturday.

Tickets are $10 for a tournament pass for all games, $5 for adult single session of two games and $3 for students ages 6-18. Children under 6 are free. Dallas College students and employees with a current ID (must present at the gate) are free. Game programs are $2.

North Lake's Jakob Zenon scored 23 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and had three assists, two blocks and a steal in Saturday's victory. He was 8 of 11 from the field, including 5 of 7 from three-point range. It was the sixth straight game he's scored in double figures.

Da'Ryan Williams recorded his second double-double of the season, scoring 14 points and pulling down 11 boards, and had four assists. Ryan Pondant finished with 12 points on 6 of 8 shooting, eight rebounds and a steal. DeKyre Fuller had 10 points, six rebounds and three assists. Darion Jones had 10 points and three steals. Ring Deng scored nine points, and had five rebounds. Brandon Lawrence had six points, five assists, four rebounds and a steal. Randy Woolf had five boards, three assists and a block.

The Blazers, who canned eight of 15 triples for 53.3 percent, sank 9 of 11 free throws. They shot 51.4 percent from the floor, going 36 of 70.

North Lake held No. 10 Eastfield (20-7, 6-4) to 31 points in each half.

The Blazers held every opponent to under 70 points in regulation in all 10 conference games.
