Smith Named DAC Player of Week Following Career-High Heroics

IRVING, Texas – Dallas College North Lake's Bryson Smith was named the Dallas Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week. This is the second time this season Smith has won the award.

A 6-foot-1 sophomore point guard from Mesquite, Texas, Smith scored a career-high 30 points in National Junior College Athletic Association Division III No. 2-ranked North Lake's 72-68 win at No. 10 Dallas College Richland. Smith sank a career-high 17 of 18 free throws, and had five rebounds, three assists and a steal in the win. He sank all 10 free throws he attempted in the second half.

Smith is averaging 14.8 points, 5.7 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game. He is shooting 45.5 percent from the field, 44.4 percent from three-point range and 77.1 percent from the free throw line.

The Blazers (15-4, 1-0 DAC) play at Dallas College Cedar Valley (7-10, 0-1) at 6 p.m. Wednesday. They host No. 14 Dallas College Mountain View (13-7, 0-1) on Alumni Recognition Day 1 p.m. Saturday.
