Zenon Named National Player of Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Dallas College North Lake's Jakob Zenon was named the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Men's Basketball Player of the Week.

A 6-foot-4 sophomore swingman from Fort Worth, Texas, Zenon scored 28 points on 10 of 20 shooting, going 5 of 10 from beyond the three-point line. He pulled down 12 rebounds to match his career high, and distributed five assists, a steal and a block in the No. 3-ranked Blazers' 80-70 comeback victory at NJCAA Division I Grayson College Saturday. Zenon scored 16 points in the second half, burying three of his five triples after the break.

It was the 14th time Zenon has scored in double figures this season, and the ninth time he has reached 20 or more. His 10 field goals marked the second most he's buried in a game this season, having connected on 11 field goals in the season opener.

Zenon is averaging 19.8 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game, while shooting 45.4 percent from the field and 43 percent from three-point range this season.

North Lake (12-4) hosts Arlington Baptist University Red 6 p.m. Wednesday in the first of three consecutive home games in the Blazer Dome.
