North Lake Baseball Hosts Final Athletic Events of Year Friday-Saturday

Dallas College North Lake's baseball team will host the final two athletic events of the 2022-23 academic year Friday and Saturday.

The Blazers (21-28, 12-16 Dallas Athletic Conference) host National Junior College Athletic Association Division III No. 3-ranked Dallas College Eastfield (40-11, 24-4) at noon Friday and Saturday in the final regular season games of the season. Eastfield repeated as DAC regular season champions this year.

North Lake beat Eastfield, 6-4, on the road April 1. The Blazers lost the first game of the current three-game series with the Harvester Bees, 10-0, Wednesday in Mesquite, Texas.

North Lake will compete in the NJCAA Division III South Central District Tournament beginning Wednesday at Eastfield. The tournament schedule will be announced following the completion of regular season games.

Garrett Gregory leads the Blazers in hitting (.386), and has eight doubles, a triple, 23 runs batted in and 10 stolen bases. Danny Berenthy is batting .381 with four doubles, 32 RBI and 11 stolen bases. Carlos Pirela is hitting .359 with 11 doubles, a triple, three home runs and 27 RBI. Tyler Yancey is batting .318 with nine doubles, three triples, a home run, 15 RBI and 13 stolen bases.

Hunter Greenwell, this week's DAC Pitcher of the Week, is 5-5 with a 4.18 earned run average and 53 strikeouts in 14 appearances. Gabby Aragon has a team-leading 3.55 ERA. Noe Saracay has a 3.76 ERA and two saves.
