North Lake Roars Past Lions for Third Straight Win

IRVING, Texas – Dallas College North Lake beat Dallas College Mountain View, 15-3, in eight innings Saturday in the second game of a three-game Dallas Athletic Conference series.

The game was moved to North Lake due to unplayable field conditions at Mountain View. Sunday's 12 p.m. series finale is scheduled to be played at Mountain View.

It was the third straight win for the Blazers (20-27, 11-15 DAC). North Lake also secured its third conference series victory this season, taking both against Mountain View (18-29, 6-20).

North Lake's Hunter Greenwell (5-5) pitched a complete game, giving up three unearned runs, five hits and three walks, and fanned a season-high 12 batters. It was the second straight outing and fourth overall Greenwell has pitched eight innings.

The Blazers, who outhit the Lions, 15-5, scored five runs in the top of the third inning to spot themselves a 6-0 lead. Danny Berenthy singled to center to score Tyler Yancey. Carlos Pirela singled to center to bring home Garrett Gregory. Jake Williams and Alex Murphy drew bases-loaded walks to make it 5-0. Blake Butler's RBI groundout pushed the lead to six.

Noah Angus lined a single to right to score Pirela one inning later, extending the lead to 8-0. That's where it stood into the eighth when the Blazers put seven runs on the board. Angus tripled to center, scoring Pirela to push the lead to 10-0. Williams singled home Angus. Williams later scored on an error. Gregory's two run single to left made it 14-0. Yancey scored on an error for the Blazers' 15th run.

Mountain View scored three runs with two outs in the eighth – the first on an error. Hayden Hibbitts singled to right to drive in a pair. Following a double by Anthony Winters, Greenwell got a strikeout to end the game.

Angus was 3-for-5 with a home run, triple and three RBI. Pirela went 3-for-6 with an RBI. Gregory was 2-for-5 with two RBI and a walk. Yancey went 2-for-5 with a double.

Every Blazers hitter crossed home plate, including Greenwell, who batted twice in the eighth. He singled in his first plate appearance.
