North Lake Knocks Off No. 1 Eastfield

Dallas College North Lake spoiled a series sweep for then top-ranked Dallas College Eastfield in the finale of a three-game series. North Lake beat Eastfield, 6-4, Saturday on the road.

The Blazers (15-19, 7-8 Dallas Athletic Conference) scored three runs in the seventh inning to overcome a 4-2 deficit. Garrett Gregory doubled to left with one out to score Carter Mach. Danny Berenthy's RBI groundout tied the game at 4-4, and Carlos Pirela lined a single into center to score Gregory for the go-ahead run.

North Lake picked up a security run in the ninth on an Eastfield error.

The Blazers outhit the Harvester Bees, 10-5.

Gregory went 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI. He was 8-for-12 in the series. Pirela went 2-for-4 with a stolen base, a walk and an RBI. Mach was 2-for-4, and scored two runs.

North Lake starter Jake Nicholson (4-1) gave up four runs, one earned, on three hits and two walks, and struck out eight in seven innings to earn the win. Jackson Jones notched his second straight save, allowing just a walk, while recording two strikeouts over the final two innings.

North Lake opens a three-game series at Dallas College Cedar Valley 12 p.m. Wednesday to begin the second half of conference play. The final two games of the series are scheduled for Thursday and Friday at North Lake.
