Bio

Cathy Carter was named Dallas College North Lake's head volleyball coach in 2013.

Carter won her 100th career match in 2023 when the Blazers beat Dallas College Brookhaven, 3-2, in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III South District semifinals. In 11 seasons with the Blazers, Carter has an overall record of 100-199, and is 53-60 in conference play.

In 2023, Carter guided North Lake to its best finish in program history. The Blazers went 17-18 overall, 7-3 in the Dallas Athletic Conference. North Lake advanced to the NJCAA Division III South District championship. North Lake won six straight matches twice during the season. Love Riley was named an NJCAA Division III Second Team All-American. 

Prior to taking over the program, she served as the Blazers' assistant coach in 2010.

Carter has coached club volleyball for ages 15-18 in the North Texas Region Volleyball Association since 2010. 

As a player, Carter was the starting setter at North Lake in 2008 after spending her freshman season at Dallas College Eastfield in 2007. She earned National Junior College Athletic Association Region V/Metro Athletic Conference First Team honors while with the Blazers in 2008. She was a Region V honorable mention selection at Eastfield the previous year.

She earned her associate's degree from North Lake in 2009, before moving on to play at Lyon College in Arkansas. She earned her bachelor's degree from Texas Wesleyan University.
