Volleyball Trio Lands on All-DAC First Team

DALLAS – Dallas College North Lake volleyball's Hadley Klock, Shi'Miria Phillips and Gabi Smith earned First Team All-Dallas Athletic Conference honors. Smith was named the DAC Newcomer of the Year.
Brooklyne Dewberry and Katie Lloyd received Second Team All-DAC honors.
A sophomore setter from Centerville, Texas, Klock is second among National Junior College Athletic Association Division III leaders in assists (1,050) entering this week's national tournament in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She also has 357 digs, 44 blocks and 28 aces this season. Klock had a season-high 52 assists in a five-set match against Seminole State College. Klock had a season-best 20 digs in a four-set win at Seminole State. She matched her career-high with five aces in two matches.
A sophomore outside hitter from Dallas, Phillips leads the Blazers with 273 kills, and has 45 blocks and 96 digs. She pounded a career-high 16 kills against Seminole State and at Dallas College Richland, and put down 15 and 14, respectively, in two matches between those two. It came in a stretch in which Phillips had double-digit kills in five straight matches. She had a career-best five blocks in two matches.
A freshman middle blocker from Cleveland, Texas, Smith ranks fourth in the nation and leads the DAC in total blocks (107) entering the national tournament. She also has 229 kills and 16 aces. She had a season-high 11 blocks in a four-set win over College of DuPage at the Blinn Invitational. Smith had a season-high 14 kills, and hit .306 in the five-set match with Seminole State. She hit over .300 in 13 matches, which included a .636 attack percentage against Dallas College Eastfield.
A freshman middle blocker from Irving, Texas, Dewberry has 178 kills and 50 blocks. She had a season-high nine kills with no errors, and hit .563 in a four-set win over Jefferson College. Dewberry had a season-best five blocks in the regular season home match against Richland. She hit a season-high .625 in a sweep of Henderson State University Junior Varsity. Dewberry hit .300 or better in eight matches.
A freshman libero from College Station, Texas, Lloyd is fifth in the country, while leading the DAC in digs with 574. She also has a team-best 47 aces, which is second in the league. She's averaging 4.48 digs per set, which is tied for first in the conference. Lloyd had a season-high 34 digs in the four-set home match against Richland. She had 32 in the five-set match versus Seminole State. She had a season-best seven aces in a sweep of Coffeyville Community College.
North Lake (19-17) meets Fulton-Montgomery Community College (21-1) in the opening round of the NJCAA Division III National Tournament 11 a.m. CT Thursday.
