North Lake Headed to National Tournament for First Time

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Dallas College North Lake's volleyball team earned an at-large bid to the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Tournament next week in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Tenth-seeded North Lake (19-17) will meet seventh-seeded Fulton-Montgomery Community College (21-1) at 11 a.m. CT next Thursday in the opening round at Alliant Energy Powerhouse Arena. The quarterfinals will also be played Thursday, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The matches will be streamed on the NJCAA Network. Live Stats are also available.
It is the first trip to the national tournament for the Blazers.
No. 1-ranked and top-seeded Dallas College Eastfield (30-1) will meet 16th-seeded Harrisburg Area Community College (18-10) in the opening round.
North Lake is coming off a loss to Eastfield in the South District championship match. It was the Blazers' second straight district championship appearance. North Lake's 19 wins are the most since 2010.
Blazers sophomore setter Hadley Klock ranks second in the nation in assists (1050). Freshman libero Katie Lloyd is fifth in digs (574).
Fulton-Montgomery enters the tournament on an 18-match win streak. All of their wins have come by sweeps. The Raiders' lone loss was a 3-1 setback to Finger Lakes Community College, which received the No. 3 seed.
Grace O'Brien leads Fulton-Montgomery with 177 kills. Haley Tomlinson is second with 158, and Allie Salvione third with 146. Alaina Diffee leads the Raiders with 35 blocks. Jayden DeVellis is the team leader in digs (300), and Amber Cole leads Fulton-Montgomery in aces (55). O'Brien has 54 aces.
