North Lake Sweeps No. 4 Brookhaven
FARMERS BRANCH, Texas – Dallas College North Lake's volleyball team beat Dallas College Brookhaven, 25-17, 25-19, 25-22, Thursday.
The win was the fifth in a row for the Blazers (13-11, 3-1 Dallas Athletic Conference. Ranked fourth in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III poll, Brookhaven fell to 12-9, 3-1.
North Lake's Shi'Miria Phillips had 12 kills and three blocks. It was the third straight match she put down 12 balls. Natalia Gonzalez, Hailey Pennison and Gabi Smith each had six kills. Gonzalez also had two blocks, Pennison 12 digs, a block and an ace, and Smith four blocks and an ace. Brooklyne Dewberry had five kills and a block. Hadley Klock finished with 24 assists, 13 digs and an ace. Katie Lloyd had 23 digs and an ace. Kendyl Burgess had 16 digs and an ace. Alex Knowles had nine digs.
Brookhaven's Caroline Simpson had nine kills, two blocks and eight digs. Mary Amick, Remington McCarty and Lyrick Bridges each had three kills. Brooke Tyler had 16 digs, nine assists and an ace. Fiona Larsen had 13 digs, and McKenzie Mitchell 12 digs and an ace.
North Lake, which is receiving votes in the national rankings, hosts Dallas College Richland (12-13, 2-2) at 6 p.m. Monday to finish the first half of conference action.
