Vargas Named National Goalie of Week
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Dallas College North Lake women's soccer's Emely Vargas was named the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Goalie of the Week.
A sophomore keeper from Arlington, Texas, Vargas posted a win and a tie in goal last week at NJCAA Division I Cisco College and against NJCAA Division III then-No. 1 Dallas College Brookhaven, respectively. Vargas stopped 12 shots in the two games. At Cisco, Vargas made five shots in the 2-1 win. Against Brookhaven in the conference opener, she made seven saves in a 1-1 tie.
Vargas improved to 2-2-2 this season with two shutouts, a 1.83 goals against average and 26 saves after last week's games.
North Lake (3-2-2, 1-0-1 DAC) plays at Dallas College Richland (3-2-0, 1-1-0) at 7 p.m. Friday.
