Blazers Net 4 All-DAC Picks, Santiago MVP

DALLAS – Dallas College North Lake's Lia Santiago was named the Dallas Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Most Valuable Player.

Santiago, a freshman forward from Hurst, Texas, led the DAC with 18 goals and 38 points. She finished the regular season fourth among National Junior College Athletic Association Division III leaders in goals and sixth in points.

Santiago had two hat tricks during the regular season, and scored against every team in the DAC but No. 3-ranked Dallas College Richland. Her second hat trick of the season came in the regular season finale – a 3-1 win over Dallas College Mountain View. She had three gamewinning goals and two assists this season.

North Lake freshmen defenders Dayanara Rubio and Melissa Morales both earned First Team All-DAC honors. Rubio, a native of Arlington, Texas, had one assist, and along with Morales, was part of one shutout – a 2-0 victory over Dallas College Eastfield. Morales, who hails from Irving, had two goals and two assists for six points. She cracked the back of the net against Richland.

Blazers sophomore defender Paris Sithavong earned Second Team All-DAC honors for the second consecutive year. A product of Euless, Texas, she scored her first career goal in the Blazers' NJCAA Division III quarterfinal loss to Eastfield.

North Lake finished the year 3-9-5 overall, 2-5-3 in the DAC. The Blazers improved their win total by two games from a year ago.
