North Lake Opens DAC Play Friday

SCHEDULE

IRVING, Texas – Dallas College North Lake's women's soccer team will open the Dallas Athletic Conference season 6 p.m. Friday when it meets crosstown rival Dallas College Brookhaven.

The Blazers (1-3-2) are coming off back-to-back ties to Southwestern Adventist University in a home-and-home series. The two ties already assured the Blazers of a better record than last year.

Brookhaven will enter the league portion of the schedule with a 1-2 record – its last game a 2-1 loss at Holmes Community College in Mississippi on Sept. 3.

North Lake newcomer Lia Santiago leads the Dallas Athletic Conference in goals (8) and points (17), and is tied for fifth in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III in both categories. Emely Vargas has logged all the minutes in goal for the Blazers, and has one shutout.

North Lake's first home league game is set for Tuesday at 4 p.m. against Dallas College Cedar Valley. The season runs through Oct. 17 when the Blazers host Dallas College Mountain View in the final regular season and conference game.

The NJCAA Division III South District Tournament is set for Oct. 26-28.
