Navarrete Named DAC Pitcher of Week

IRVING, Texas – Dallas College North Lake's Brayan Navarrete was chosen as the Dallas Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week.

A freshman right hander from Haltom City, Texas, Navarrete won two games in relief as the Blazers won a series against Dallas College Brookhaven. A converted pitcher after starting the year as a first baseman, he went 4 2/3 innings in Games 1 and 3 of the series, allowing no runs, two hits and five walks, and struck out three batters in collecting the win in both appearances. He also got the DAC Hitter of the Week to ground into an inning-ending double play with a one-run lead.

Navarrete is 2-0 with a 0.79 earned run average and 12 strikeouts in 11.1 innings pitched this season.

North Lake (21-27, 11-13 DAC) will host Dallas-Fort Worth Post Grad Monday before beginning a four-game series at No. 6 Dallas College Richland (33-15, 19-5) at noon Wednesday. The Blazers will host Richland for the last three games, the final serving as a nonconference matchup.
