Blazers Pull Even with Bears in DAC Standings

IRVING, Texas – Dallas College North Lake's baseball team pulled even with Dallas College Brookhaven in a tie for third place in the Dallas Athletic Conference after authoring an 8-5 win at home Wednesday.

The Blazers (20-26, 10-12 DAC) and Bears (19-24, 10-12) will meet again Thursday and Friday at Brookhaven.

North Lake jumped out to a six-run lead in the third on Robert Farr's two-run single to center field, Michael Holden's RBI single to left, Noah Angus' one-run double to left, Jacob Binder's run-producing single to center and Ayden Franco's RBI single to left.

Brookhaven, which beat the Blazers in the previous two games the two teams met on the same field, bounced back with a pair of runs in both the fourth and fifth innings to cut it to 6-4. Bo Dinscore's single to right scored Caden Roeschen to make it a two-run game.

North Lake stretched its lead back to four on Joseph Binder's single to center to score Franco in the seventh. Brayden Haranda's pinch-hit RBI groundout in the eighth pulled the Bears within three, but Blazers reliever Davin Askew retired the final five batters he faced to pick up his first save.

Starter Logan Stark went 4 2/3 innings, allowing four runs on six hits, three walks and six strikeouts. Brayan Navarrete worked an inning of scoreless relief, allowing two walks, and striking out two.

Angus was 3-for-5 with two doubles and an RBI. Joseph Binder singled three times, drove in a run, and had two stolen bases. Farr was 1-for-4 with two RBI.

Dinscore went 3-for-5 with an RBI. Ray Jaramillo doubled and walked, while driving in a run. Landon Kerkmaz had two RBI and a stolen base for the Bears.

Brookhaven reliever Caleb Kennedy did not surrender a run, while giving up a hit and a walk in an inning of work.

Thursday and Friday's pivotal games for the middle spot in the league standings could have a big impact on the National Junior College Athletic Association South Central District Tournament seeding May 15-18.
