North Lake Trips up Joliet, 7-1

IRVING, Texas – Dallas College North Lake's baseball team knocked off seventh-ranked Joliet Junior College, 7-1, Wednesday.

The win pushed North Lake (13-12) over the .500 mark, and was the Blazers' seventh in their past eight games. Joliet (5-8) dropped its sixth straight game.

Eric De Anda and Lincoln Skinner accounted for five of the Blazers' 10 hits, while pitchers Jake Nicholson, Tristan Mills and Jackson Powell combined to limit the Wolves to five hits. De Anda was 3-for-5 with a double and a run batted in. Skinner went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a stolen base.

Nicholson worked the first four innings, allowing four hits, a run and two walks, while fanning five. Mills went three innings, giving up a hit and a walk and no runs, and had a strikeout, earning the win in relief. Powell did not allow a base runner, retiring all six batters he faced, including two on strikeouts.

North Lake scored three runs in the bottom of the third inning on Michael Holden's RBI double to left, De Anda's RBI double to center and Leo Salas' sacrifice fly to center. Joliet scored its lone run in the fourth on Diego Garcia-Medina's infield single to make it 3-1. The Blazers got one back in the bottom half of the inning on an RBI groundout by Skinner.

North Lake picked up two more in the fifth when Salas scored on Noah Angus' fielder's choice RBI, and De Anda trotted home on an error on the play. Reece Parrott's single to left in the seventh drove in the Blazers' final run.

Joseph Binder and Parrott both went 1-for-3 with a walk. Holden and Salas each went 1-for-4. Robert Farr was 1-for-5.

Joliet's Hobbs Dunne was 2-for-3, and Cooper Hertz and Jonny Carrera each had one hit.

North Lake hosts McCook Community College in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Friday.
