Blazers Clinch First DAC Series, Beating Suns, 11-1

IRVING, Texas – Dallas College North Lake's baseball team secured its first Dallas Athletic Conference series win of the season Friday, beating Dallas College Cedar Valley, 11-1, in Game 2 of the three-game series.

The Blazers (8-11, 2-0 DAC) clinched the series – new head coach Lance Fairchild's first as a Blazer – after beating the Suns (8-7, 0-2) two days earlier, 8-7, in the conference opener at Cedar Valley.

North Lake scored in four of the first five innings, putting multiple runs on the board in all but one of those four. They jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first when Eric De Anda singled to left to score Michael Holden. Holden extended the lead to 4-0 in the second with an RBI single to right. Leo Salas doubled to center to bring home Holden. De Anda tripledto right to score Salas, bumping the lead to 6-0.

Cedar Valley picked up its lone run on a wild pitch, allowing Jordan Anguiano to score in the top of the third. In the bottom of the inning, Lincoln Skinner singled to left to drive in a run, making it 7-1. The Blazers tacked on three more runs in the fifth on Cameron Hill's sacrifice fly to right, Skinner's RBI single to right and Robert Farr's run-scoring single to center.

De Anda was 3-for-4 with two RBI. Holden went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Skinner, Farr and Hill each had two hits. Skinner drove in three runs, Farr two and Hill one. Salas was 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Cedar Valley's Jacob Cueva had two hits in three at-bats. Cesar Mora, Ian Williams and Zachary Mikes each had one hit.

Davin Askew went five innings, allowing four hits, four walks and a run, while fanning a season-high eight batters. Mason Sinner worked the final two innings, surrendering one hit without giving up a run.

The Blazers and Suns meet at noon Saturday in Irving to wrap up the series.
