Men's Basketball Clinches DAC Regular Season Championship

MESQUITE, Texas – Dallas College North Lake's men's basketball team beat Dallas College Eastfield, 100-92, Wednesday night to clinch the Dallas Athletic Conference regular season championship for the third straight year.

Ranked No. 2 in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III poll, the Blazers ran their record to 23-4 overall, 9-0 in the conference.

With the game tied at 61 with 11:57 remaining, North Lake and Eastfield (17-12, 6-3 DAC) traded baskets over the next five minutes until the Blazers took a 71-69 lead at the 6:46 mark. The Blazers made it a four-point game with 5:22 to go. North Lake went on a 12-3 run over the next 3:57 to take a 95-82 lead with 1:25 remaining to put the game out of reach.

North Lake guard Jakob Zenon scored 26 points, hitting six three-pointers, including four in the second half. Forward Ring Deng scored 12 of his 21 points in the first half. Guard Randy Woolf finished with 16 points. Guard Autavius Hobbs had 12 points, including eight in the first half. Guard Bryson Smith scored all 10 of his points in the second half. Forward Anden Holmes had nine points.

The Blazers led 41-40 at halftime.

Eastfield's Joshua Williford finished with 22 points, 10 rebounds, a block and a steal for the Harvester Bees. Delkedric Holmes had 14 points on 5 of 8 shooting, going 4-for-6 from long distance. Vashney Wright III had 13 points, three assists and a steal. DQuarius Burton had nine points on 4 of 5 shooting.

North Lake was 27-for-35 from the free throw line. Eastfield went 17-for-21. Both teams hit 11 triples.

The Blazers will host Dallas College Brookhaven 1 p.m. Saturday in the final regular season game. It will be broadcast on North Lake Live.
