Dallas College North Lake men's basketball honored its 2021-22 NJCAA National Championship team in a ring ceremony prior to the home-opening win.

IRVING, Texas -- Dallas College North Lake men's basketball team beat Texas Wesleyan University Junior Varsity, 103-50, Tuesday afternoon in the home opener in front of 557 fans on a day the Blazers' building was bustling, and championship ring bling vibes were in the air.

"It was great to have that many people in the stands with the three elementary schools from Sallye Moore out of Grand Prairie, Garden Ridge in Flower Mound and Farine Elementary here in Irving," Blazers first-year head coach Josh Mills said. "They had great participation. Really electric."

Six Blazers scored in double figures in a game North Lake (2-4) shot 60 percent from three-point range in the first half when it built a 20-point lead.

Darion Jones scored 17 points on 6 of 8 shooting, and grabbed nine rebounds for the Blazers (2-4). DeKyre Fuller had 15 points on 5 of 10 shooting, while pulling down five boards. Da'Ryan Williams had 13 points and six boards. He shot 5 of 8 from the field. Jesse Peart had 13 points and seven rebounds, and was 5 of 8 shooting. Ryan Pondant scored 12 points, and Jakob Zenon added 11.

It was a day the 12th-ranked Blazers honored its 2021-22 National Junior College Athletic Association Division III national championship team.

"It was great to honor those guys who came back, and give 'em their championship rings," said Mills, who collected his first home win as the Blazers head coach. "They earned 'em, and it was great to celebrate with this year's team. It makes it all better that we win this game in that type of fashion."

North Lake will meet New Mexico Military Institute Friday in Levelland, Texas and South Plains College Saturday in the Texan Dome. The Blazers return home Tuesday, Nov. 22 for a 6 p.m. matchup with East Texas Baptist University Junior Varsity.
